Soup Recipes

Post by AmyJill on Fri 5 Jun 2009 - 19:34

Anyone have any nice soup recipes, i mean those real traditional old soups. Vegetable , "mielies en bone". I just love soup and the other day i tried to make , it turned out like something you could eat over rice :Wait

3-4 Meat bones with a little meat on (salt & spices to tast)
1 pack of spikkel beans or if you would rather use "Lensies of ertjies"
Fill a steampot with about 8-10L water
Cook first the beans until almost soft, put in the meat bones.
Steam until meat almost fall of the bones
Thicken with cake flour until its a bit thicker but not a "bredie"
Start with a half cup of flour for the 8-10L water
Mix the flour with cold water and stir soup while you put in the flour mix.

Hope it help
