Sleeping on the tummy
Hi there. Sorry I havn't been chatting last week. Tiaan was sick last week, so it was hectic at home with him at home the whole day and the babies!! At least today he is at daycare again, so we can rest until I fetch him just now.
This past few nights Bjorn only wants to sleep on his tummy. I know this is not a very good idea, but it's the only way we get some rest. He is sleeping on his safety matress and with an Angelcare monitor. Should I leave him to sleep like this? I see he is managing fine to turn his head. I'm just so scared that something might happen to him.

Re: Sleeping on the tummy
Elaine I was just as pariniod about sleeping on their tummy and still is but mine don't like it that much.
But some days when the colic was bad my mother will put a big pillow below the tummy and let the head hang over the pillow(hope you understand) and they will sleep for hours like that and I saw that they will turn their head when they don't get enough air to breath. Personally I will rather do it during the day when I can watch them and not at night.

If your baby is happy that way then go with it if he can turn his head I am sure he will be fine.

Both mine has taken to sleeping that way and no wedge can prevent them from flopping over! They are happy that way, and both also sleep on the angelcare so I am OK with it.

Hi Elaine,
Not a twin Mommy here, but a tummy sleeping Mom. Jordan absolutely refused to sleep any way but on his tummy, and despite my paranoia I eventually relented and allowed him to. It somehow helped not only his sleeping habits, but his reflux and colic cramps.
If he's more comfortable that way, I think give it a try. Angelcare is a wonderful device.

Re: Sleeping on the tummy
Thanks. So I gave in last night and both of them slept on their tummies. Was absolutely bliss. They even strecthed their feeds to 4 hours, and Carmen's cramps was much better! I suppose this is the way it will be from now on, I'll just be keeping the monitor on always
