Clomid and ovulation

Post by RJ on Sun 4 Oct 2009 - 20:38

ok..here's a silly question:

whats the chances of taking clomid and still not ovulating?
i know clomid induces ovulation...but what if I still don't ovulate?

is that possible?

has that happened to anyone??

just feeling a bit worried..that's all

hoping to start AF soon..then start with clomid.

Hi there. I didn't ovulate the same cycle I used clomid or fertomid. With both I ovulated the next cycle. Hope this helps.

Hi RJ

My gynae said with my hormones being as out of wack as they are I may not ovulate if I try the Clomid and if not the first time I try clomid than he would but me onto Gonal F injections as well from the next month but then the price jumps to about 5 grand a month so we haven't gone that route yet.

Hi RJ,

It depends on the reasons why you are not ovulating. The way my FS explained why it did not work for me: For you to ovulate, your FSH and LH levels must be in a certain proportion. Clomid raises both these hormones and because my FSH is too low, the proportion stayed wrong. A good FS would probably have tested these (the first so-called FS I went to, didn't...). Good luck!!!

When I use Fetomid the fs gave ovidrel to me to inject to make sure that I do ovulate but the next cycle I didn't ever produce follies with the fertomid so blood test confirm that my insulin was high and that is the reason for not responding or ovulate every month.

Did your FS do any other test before putting you on clomid?

You will not always ovulate, but it will help in getting more regular cycles. The next cycle after the clomid is usually the best natural cycle and ovulation might occur then.

To be honest I cant remember. Been on so many meds I cant remember what worked and what did not. Will hold thumbs for you though. This whole process is like a bloody science and math exam combined. It is so confusing. Good luck.
