Just got off the phone with mum two seconds ago..
Kidney is definitely NOT working.

Cathy will not be able to come back until he has been for more X-Rays. They will inject him with a radioactive substance and then do the X-Rays.

Doc says it is actually a VERY common thing in babies which they have picked up in the last 15 years since doing scans.

He will also have to go and have a camera put up his little uretha (sp) to check that there are no narrowings and that the urine and fluids are passsing correctly from the good kidney. EINA my poor baby. Only local anesthetic.

He will have to stay on the anti-biotic that he has been on since birth until he is 4 years old!

Also a high risk that he may battle with High Blood pressure so will have to have that tested once a year and have it monitored.

At this stage they are not going to remove the kidney but if he does decide that he wants to play contact sports later in life it will have to be taken out.

They took loads of blood from his foot today. He cried, laughed and cried and is now asleep.

NOT the news I was hoping for but atleast there is no surgery and it seems to be common.

Now we just wait for the X-ray but that may take forever as they notify her by post of when the appointment will be and there is a postal strike in the UK. She tried to explain her circumstances but they just said they will see if they can process it quicker.

MAN.....I hate the way the doctors work with appointments over there.

Ah, was hoping for better news but glad that is isnt terrible news! Just sucks that you dont know when they will come back to SA.

Shame Sheena so sorry, not the best but like u say better than having surgery now. He is soooo small man. Shame poor little man, he is strong though so he will get through it. Much love to your sis and to you also!!!
