Hallo CLC,

Sorry for only replying now, had a bit of a hectic 2 days with our newborn!

One thing I've learned on this adoption journey is that nobody is going to go out of their way to keep you informed or tell you what is going on all the time. That is your responsibility. We were registered with two private workers specialising in adoption and I had a permanent reminder on my cellphone to phone them once every two weeks. Of course this drove them nuts!!! But I promise you one thing, I was on their minds constantly and after a while they got used to me being on their case.

Unfortunately the screening process is a long and torturous affair. I always say it's so unfair: A 16-year old can fall pregnant on the backseat of a car and be deemed fit to be a mother but couples like ourselves have to be scrutinized before we are even considered for adoption. But hey, life’s not fair and you have to do what you have to do to get a baby.

I know the wait is long and the road is hard, but believe me, as my little boy is lying close to me whilst I'm writing this email, I can assure you that it is SO worth the wait. I can not describe to you the joy and fulfillment I have in my life because of him. He is absolutely the light of my life!! He was handed to us straight after he was lifted from his birthmom's tummy and he hasn't been out of sight eversince!

Trust God that there's a baby out there for you - whether he/she still has to be conceived, whether he/she is growing in another's woman's womb or whether he/she has already been born. God is good ALL the time - even when we are impatient and despondent.

Welcome to OPM. You will find that the women on here are absolutely and truly amazing woman.

Feel free to ask questions any time!!!

Warm regards
