I have never felt so low or so out of control

Post by Ams on Tue 8 Dec 2009 - 8:49

Just wanted to tell other moms how I am feeling. Maybe someone out there has some miracle advice perhaps? Boys are 5 months old today so that’s all good! Love them madly but I honestly feel like I am about to have a nervous breakdown. I started work at the beginning of November and feel like I just can’t anymore. After taking two lots of antibiotics I still have the flu? bad cough? which is now going into the third month. I have just finished my period and I have chronic back ache. This morning I woke up and stood vomiting over the bath for what seemed like about 10 minutes. (I’m not pregnant) My husband’s daughter has arrived to spend December with us and the house is an absolute shambles. Boys have started teething and I am up from around 2 in the morning trying to help one of them breathe as his chest has been closing up for a while now. (I have medication for him) As much as I love my husband – he works really hard – he does nothing ‘baby wise’ to help at all. I am on anti depressants – just seems like they don’t work at all anymore :< Thanks for letting me talk – think I have only just realised how awful I am actually feeling - … Sorry to be such a wet blanket on such a beautiful summer day.

Ams you are not alone, I cracked a few weeks back and to tell the truth I didn't know what was happening to me and I felt so bad about the hole thing but now my hubby is helping me and even helps during the night.

Talk to you hubby if he is gonna listen because they think we can handle it and just assume they don't need to help us. I know the feeling of being so tired about the night wakenings and you will not get well if you don't rest and get you body back. I had the same thing, my girls was every 3-4 weeks back at the doctor and after their asthma medication things is going well and everytime they are sick I also get sick and everytime I am worst than the previous time.

Shame Ams I hope you can sort this out, I know exactly how you feel and sometimes I think it is jsut nor fair that we have to sacrafice to much for the babies and the fathers don't!!

I think we all feel the same way, sooner or later Ams! I am just one person after all! Everytime my girls get sick it is a month before both are well again. At the moment, both have allergies although their Deselex is helping. All I can say is, mine are in routine to which I don't make any changes, last night they bated earlier and then played and then ber (usually bath then directly bed) -disaster, I struggled terribly to get them down!

Anyway, you are not alone.

Thank you so much Megan & Paulae - guess I did not realise quite how difficult it would be :< (You know the "I am invincible" syndrome us mothers have.) And yes, Melanie - think I'm actually going to print this mail out and let my husband read it. I honestly had no idea that I would actually be physically sick along with them?! go figure xx

Ams

I know how you feel the only reason I cope is cause DH helps and I only work half day. I come home and get a nap while they have thier mid day nap.

That and we still have the night nurse once or twice a week. - This week we are going to have her 4 times!!! The boys have gastro and kain has an ear infection!! I had absolutely no sleep for 2 nights in a row and no sleep during the day yesterday!! I actually took a sick day as I feel physically ill!!

ASk for help but also see if you can't afford once a month or something for someone to take them for a night.

ALso I am on 20mg of (something with a C??) which is double the normal dose and it helps! so also visit your doctor.

last piece of advice - Kian has breathing probs and after two weekson the meds he was not much better so we went back to the pead and he upped the dose and we are doing a little better. We still have a darth vader impression most afternoons but at least not all day.

Stay strong this does get better eventually - or so says my friend with 20month olds who only went to hospital 7 times each this year compared to 14 times last year!

Twins are wonderful but it is unbelievably difficult if they dont sleep or are sick. ANd no one without twins can imagine. So pat yourself on the back you are doing such a wonderful thing.

finally so what if the house is in shambles it is not forever!

Ams,
I can also relate how you are feeling. My twins were also five months old yesterday. I sometimes just feel like running away. I only go back to work in January and don't know how I will cope then. I also stick to a routine everyday.
Also speak to your doctor to get something for yourself to feel better. I am also taking, I think it is the same as Kerry, something with a C. It does make a difference.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon

I think I also need that thing which starts with a C!

I was also in your position a short while ago, felt like i was going to loose my mind!!! So we 3 went for some retail therapy (they behave so nicely out) I was feeling terrible, crying to my mother on the way, pulled myself together then was offloading them from the vehicle and a lady walks up to me and says wow u have twins, I often used to say to my partner I don't know how we would have managed with twins, how do u do it?" and I just cried to a absolute total stranger!

Anyway didn't really go to the mall to buy anything just browse, but u know how my spirits were lifted by the time I left - u know the way everyone admires them - I was SO Proud, and felt really happy again by the time I got back home.

Although every day is still difficult, (still have my moments - and quite a few at that!!) but the way I see it, it will get easier when they are a little older, it can only get easier.

So don't feel bad, you're not a bad mom either if you feel like that and you're doing a sterling job!!

I hope you all feel better soon and have a lovely day!!!
