food & screaming

Post by Ams on Mon Jan 04, 2010 8:38 am

Happy new year to all the twin mommies! Lets hope it just gets better and better hey?! Anyhow so I have started trying to get the kiddies to eat one 'solids' meal a day - and Finn loves it. Noah however screams blue murder for the rest of the day. Is this how it goes with some kiddies or is it me trying too soon? Any advice. I keep starting and stopping as obviously it turns into a hell day when that happens. Thanks guys xxx

Hi AMS

every time I meet a twin mom with older twins the first thing she says is it gets better. SO I am holding on to that.

I love the name Finn I was desparate to name one of my boys that but my DH vetoed it. :Sad

I would hold on if Noah is not ready give him two weeks break and try again. also if it upsets him that much I would wonder about an allergy. What are you giving them??

Well mommy in her wisdom (me) found this article in the naturals magazine on what to introduce when and they suggested brown rice :Embarassed so I made up this puree of a whole lot of carrot and a tiny bit of rice and goodness it did not go down well! I wanted to name one of my boys Gilles but same thing - the dad said a BIG no!!!

Ams, did you started cereal already?

You need to wait a bit with the starches - first start with cereal and fruit/veggies for a few weeks and them start with rice, cous cous and spagethiti.

You need to make the food still very smooth on this stage. I mashed my veggies from the beginning and they had mince, then chicken pureed and then beef. Now I can give the rice normal otherwise I cut it smaller with a scissor, spagetti I broke into small pieces before cooking it. Mine love pap en sous without onions. So they didn't had like in pureed food from 7,5 weeks. I only started at 6 months.

Sorry if you are giving the cereal but maybe Finn is not ready for the rice yet!

Ams

You can buy really finely ground rice cereal which is what is supposed to be babies first food. They should not be allergic to that.

You mix the ceral with thier milk, purity has one and Olli make one my boys love but it is pricey.

I think the texture was too much. Start with the olli jar foods till they are used to eating then make your own. thye need to go from milk to liquid food to mush to solid.

Thanks Ams.

O ok, yes then just slowly try a new thing every week and see how they react to it. Maybe they don't like the texture of the rice but they will get use to it later on
