Marli's birthday.

Post by cupcakes on Tue 12 Jan 2010 - 23:35

I got my BFP on the 19th of January 2007 after I went off the pill in December.

At around 3am on the 22nd of March, I woke up and knew something was wrong. I was bleeding quite heavily. I woke DH and we just sat there and did'nt know what to do. I got my pregnancy magazines and searched for some advice.(Haha, I can laugh at my foolishness of a first time mum-to-be) We finely decided to go to the ER.
I was admitted with a bladder infection and was informed that my gynae would only see me the next morning. I was so scared for my unborn baby! At around 10 am we could finely do an ultrasound and that little heartbeat was the most beautiful music in the world!!
I was on bedrest for another week. The last day of my bedrest I got the bad news that my grandmother had passed away. DH drove me the 3hours to my parents where I stayed untill the funeral. On the morning of the funeral i woke up at around 7am and felt the bleeding start again. I was so scared and DH was'nt even with me. Luckily I noticed that it was a dark brownish discharge and realized it was only blood left from the first bleed. I went for a check up at a local GP,who was great by the way, and he confirmed everything was fine.

From there on I had the most perfect pregnancy with no swelling or bad pains.

At around 1:30 am on the morning of the 18th September 2007 when I went to the loo, I noticed that my mucous plug has come off but I did'nt experience any contractions.
I went back to sleep as I had an appointment with my gynae the next day anyway. She confirmed that I am 2cm dilated and gave me 2 tiny pieces of a yellow pill( Have no clue what it was) and told me to insert it if I have not had any contractions by 6am the following morning.
She told me baby was due any time. I phoned my parent and they were on their way immediatly for the birth of their first granddaughter.
My DH and I went for a 20 min walk and some last minute shopping to get the contractions going, but still nothing. That evening we took my parents out to dinner and got to bed early. At 2am on the morning of the 19th I felt the first contraction. I remember being so excited and not worried at all. I just laid there and breathed through the slight contractions that was around 5min apart. At around 5am I got up and was a bit confused because the contractions were not getting stronger but they were already 3min apart. My DH and parent urged me to go to the hospital but I wanted to stay home till the last second. I took a leisurely bath and was at the hospital at 7:30. I was still only 2cm dilated and they put me on a monitor. The contractions were still not too painfull but the internal exams was getting unbearable and by 1pm I was given an epidural and still was only 2cm dilated. I was also given an induction. at around 2:30pm, my water broke during an internal exam but even that did'nt help me to dilate. At 4pm the monitor that showed Marli's heartbeat went quite. I panicked and called the doctors. I had to lie flat on my back since then because they said she was getting stressed. At 5pm my gynae told me that we have to do a ceasarian as she is scared for infections. By 5:40pm Marli gave her first cry!! She had a conehead, but other than that, she was a perfect baby girl and has been the light in my life since then.

Although I'm glad she was well, I felt dissappointed at having a c-section. Today I feel that maybe if I had been more active during the first stages of labour that I might have been able to give birth naturally. I want to try for a water vbac if I ever get so lucky again to fall pregnant.

Thanks for sharing your birthstory. Your LG is exactly 1 month older than my LB. We are also trying for no.2 for the past year (never went on any BC after the birth). We have male fertily problems and my age is also is big factor.
