Private adoption success story
Hi all.
Just posting my story to maybe give hope to others that your dreams can come true. Those of you in the adoption process must hang in there because its so worth it!!!!!! Its a long stressful process, but one smile or laugh makes it all worthwhile!
We adopted a baby girl privately a year ago! She was 6 weeks old when we got her and she weighed 3.2kg, we got her very unexpectedly, due to sad circumstances, went through the whole process of social worker screenings, court dates, home affairs and are still awaiting the final birth certificate with our surname.
The whole process probably cost about R10 000 to R15 000 at the most, so I didn't think it was so bad at all as the price for a birth hospitalization is worse! When she first came into our lives, I didn't know what had hit me!!!! We had to rush out and buy EVERYTHING that babies need! She was so tiny that even prem baby size clothes didnt fit her. There went the Christmas bonus that was going on a big screen TV!!
It was hard, I was personally not prepared for the sleepless nights and the exhaustion that followed at times, but a year down the line, things are going well. She is now a healthy 14 month old baby and the joy of our lives!! I now feel like a mommy (which I battled with) and heaven help anyone that messes with her!!
To top it off, she is one of a set of twins and my sister has adopted her sister (confusing hey!!) so we were able to keep both girls in the family and they are together every day! Now we just have to get over the cousins???? or sisters???? explanation when they understand as we will tell them the incredible story of how they came to us!
So if you in the "Process" still, hang in there, the smiles, giggles and first words will make you forget the stressful times forever!!!
Lots of love
Stacy

Re: Private adoption success story
SAve your pic to your computer. then when you want to post it, look at the little blocks just above the reply section. The 6th block is 'host your image'. CLick on that. It will a bring a block up. Look for the tab that says "browse". Search for the pic and then click 'open'. And then click host.
