Hello all - Im new
Hello all.
It's so great to finally find an adoption forum, where i can share my feelings and get information from people who are like-minded. This is great!
My DH and I have been TTC for about 2 years now. No BFP yet. Although both our hearts are very much for adoption. We are thinking about starting the process end of the year/ beginning of 2011. Between then and now, i want to get all the info and experience from others i can.
So this is me saying

Hi & welcome & good luck with your journey. All I can say is adoption is a very long and difficult journey.
Are you going for private adoption?

Thanks Guys!
Eve: I guess its ok with the form being quiet, I like the fact that its a small group of people (more intimate in a way)
Ilse: Im not quite sure what the real difference or cost between private and (public?) adoption is... hopefully i'll learn that all on this forum.
From what i have read from Hannah - private sounds WAY more than DH and I can afford..

Hi Traci,
Yes, private adoption is expensive BUT it depends completely on your circumstances. There's another lady on this forum that adopted a beautiful little girl for only R15 000 (but as I understand it she didn't carry any costs of the birtmother).
Welcome here and we are always here to answer any questions you may have. I have a 10-week old baby, so I'm not on all the time, but I definitely visit at least once a day, except over weekends.
A word of advice? Start the process sooner than later!
Warm regards,

Thanks so much Hannah!
R15 000 sounds a little more likely to JUST fit into my budget.
Obviously that is including the hospital and birth costs, after the 60 days, when the child is legally yours, can you claim back some costs from a medical aid? Or am i pushing my luck?
Why do you say i should start it sooner than later?
I would if i could, but my flat just doesnt suit a baby, as it is very very small. I need to move and sort a few things out before it happens.
Surely when you adopt you need to show a budget that has enough free to take care of a baby person? Im a little far away from showing that kind of budget at the moment.
That pic of Jaedin "smiling" is SO adorable.

Re: Hello all - Im new
Umm... Someone on Parent24 said that the earliest you can adopt is 25 years old, and after 3 years of marriage.
I'll be 24 by the time we're ready to get the process rolling and will be married for 3 and a half years. My DH will be 29 by then.
Do you think they will discredit us because i'll be one year under the "age required"?
There isn't anything seriously wrong with either me nor DH, its just our hearts are very much for adoption. I've also always wanted to be a "younger mother" and have the ability to love something that isnt mine as if it were my own. So that is why we were looking at year end/begin of 2011.
Would the fact that we as a couple, might not actually have fertility issues, be just that - an issue?

Welcome Tracty. You have come to the right place. I think Hannah and Michmac are pros on the adoption process, so you are in good hands here.
