Names

Post by Kerryw on Fri 29 Jan 2010 - 12:42

SO when I was choosing names I chose ones that sounded nice and wern't too comon. Then we narrowed them down to a list of 6 and named the boys the names that they looked like when they were born. I am now looking into the meanings of the names for thier naming ceremony.

Connor: much wanted , strong willed, Hound Lover
Kian: Ancient

Now what is meant by ancient ?? he looks old? he has been around the block or he is an old soul???

Oh Page I found Kiana it is of hawaian, Indian or Irish origin and means moon goddess, soft or ancient.

Hi Kerry

I would say it means ancient (as in wise). I did the same with my boys - we had a couple of names and then waited till we saw them. It worked out so well as Noah means rest and comfort and he is a quiet 'steady' little thing - always calm. Finn means fair in some books and little blonde soldier in others and he is as fair as anything and like a real little soldier the way he battles through his hurdles. Your naming ceremony sounds great! xxx

Thanks Ams I eventually did the smart thing and went to a dictionary and they also said it means wise. I came accross Finn while I was looking and they had some warrior he was named after I will try look again for you.

It is amazing how thier names fit them.

Hey,
Indeed Kiana has got this reference to some Hawaiin place, but i felt there must be also something special to her name, so i continued searching and googling and found this meaning......Kiana = "Living with Grace" - and this is exactly how she is at the moment... So peaceful and little adoreable curly hair dolly. And foresure living her everyday with such joy and grace!
Danica means "Morning star" - and at the moment she is my tomboy, strong crawling everywhere! and definitely shining her light everywhere with her bedroom blue eyes!

Thanks Kerry!
It might be possible that Kian means something similar....

So Kerry ... talking about names - the day mom tells me the other day that one of the 2 year old girls at school calls Finn & Noah - Finno and Ninno - I had such a giggle - funny! :>

With my first son, he was Lloyd until the day that he was born... then he became Dylan, he just looked like a Dylan LOL

With the twins, it was tough. Eventually kind of settled on their names but was not one hundred percent sure. I was so out of it from the c-sec that they ended up with Jason and Grant wether I liked it or not.

I am battling to find the meanings... any good sights that you could recommend?
