If you don't mind me asking... what does it mean to have an incompetent cervix?? I heard someone say they had and incompetent cervex the other day and I wondered what that it.

Anel I also had bleeding, brown and red sometimes remember and everything is fine, just keep strong and be positive, im sure everything will be fine. Pray for you my friend!!!!

I am very aware of these wonderful ladies that are praying. What an amazing prevelege (SP).

In 2007 I had the normal pap smear done and I had CIN3 cancerous cells on my cervix which was removed by means of a lettz biopsy. The op kind of damaged my cervix. Then we began TTC. Long story short it's when the cervix is not strong enough to keep the womb closed. So when you reach about 20 weeks the cervix becomes very short and you start to dilate. When that happens normally your waters break and you have to deliver the baby. They can keep the cervix from shortening by inserting a stitch into the cervix, which will then hold everything together until delivery. The stitch is called a cerclage, and it is done when you are 14 weeks pregnant. It has the risk of miscarriage, but it is worth taking that risk, if you know your cervix is too weak.
