If u say get a camp cot, which one do u have?

Re: Camp cot
Hey TT
We don't have a camp cot. We either use the pram or the car seat, when we go out. When we at my mom's or my SIL we put his big blanket on their bed and let him sleep on there.
But it's up to you if you want to buy one.

Re: Camp cot
Hi Tarryn, you don't really need a campcot when they are little and not moving around, they can easily sleep on someones bed or in a carrycot or pram. When they are bigger and able to roll off the bed then it's nice to be able to put them to bed safely if you are out. I have found that i mainly use mine if we go away.

Re: Camp cot
I used a camp cot as a normal cot when I had the twins. I got one from Ackermans for R500 and it lasted until they were two

Re: Camp cot
Lucky my mom and MIL bought their own campcots that they each keep at their place for when we visit. If we go away for a weekend or something we just borrow one of those. We have a proper wooden cot at home. In the beginning you can use a snuggle nest in bed or a carry cot will be fine to sleep in.

Re: Camp cot
Exactly what michmac says, they are fine on a bed until rolling point, then you can't leave them alone and that is when the campcot comes in handy.
Keagan is still in his pram if we are at a braai or something but he is not going to be comfortable in there much longer.
Seriously, don't spend a fortune on a campcot if you are just going to use it for a night here and there. Go to Ackermans or Game and get the simplest one you can find. That is all you need. A friend of mine bought a fancy vibrating one and evertime she put the vibrating thing on her LB vomitted. LOL .
Just remember they don't come with a mattress so take that cost into account as well. The base is WAY to hard to let LO sleep on without something on it.

Re: Camp cot
Michmac - those ones just look so cool though. My poor DH gets dragged into Baby City a lot these days as I am always shopping for Keagz and he ALWAYS says, "Man these people are so clever, look how they market this stuff for the parents. How the hell will a baby even know what that is etc..." and he is so right. Do you think that the kid even realises he is sitting in the highchair with the latest gadgets, it is totally for us! LOL but still, I can understand why people buy the things cause they are SOOOOOO nice.
I went and spent R169.00 on an outfit for Keagan yesterday. He does not need any more clothes and I battle to even justify buying a shirt for me for that price but it was so cute I just could not resist. MY BAD! I must just stay away from the shops!

Re: Camp cot
Sheena i know what you mean, i have banned myself from buying R any more clothing but then on Friday i run into woolies and see the cutest t-shirts and what do you know i end up buying two, of course justifying it to myself cause they were on sale!!! Your hubbies 100% correct the marketing is brilliant on baby items it's all geared towards us parents wanting the "best" for our kids meanwhile they don't know the difference.
It's all for us first time mommies, i think the second time around you are alot wiser and know that you don't need every little thing that baby city sells LOL!

Re: Camp cot
Bought a Camp Cot (one of the cheaper ones from Ackermans) when Hanco was about ±7 - 8 months old and used it until about 2 months ago, was just so much more convenient for me, and we took it every where we went
Re: Camp cot
I have been given two campcots from someone that has twins. I think I will probably only use them IF I sleep out somewhere, like go to my dad's place for the weekend etc

Re: Camp cot
HI TT
I planned on having beautiful white cots for the boys but in the beginning they shared a camp cot then for a while we borrowed a friends camp cot. Now they sleep with us and I will be moving them to the floor soon. So no beautiful white cots. My boys could sleep in their pram till 8 months.
Michmac and Sheena LOL, I am just the same, I went food shopping yesterday and still managed to buy the boys new toys!!!

Re: Camp cot
Hi Tarryn
In the beginning I used carry cots when we went out - worked extremely well. When they were a bit bigger they slept on their Do-nuts. Now that they're mobile they crawl off so I have borrowed 1 camp cot and just bought another 2nd hand one. There is a 2nd hand baby shop called Baby Bygones in Pinetown that has loads of them in excellent condition. I bought a Zonic one for R580.00 It looks practically new.
