I also found that What to Expect: The First Year, was quite helpful

IMHO: You still need to trust your instincts and not completely raise baby 'by the book' *please do not shoot me here*

I got one from Fedhealth - by Maria - someone - can't remembethe name! Other fedhealth ladies might be able to help - IT'S BRILLIANT because she's written it and changed it as her children and grandchildren have grown and it also has contact numbers etc

I swear by Sister Lilian, also the natural remedies she offers are widely available at Dischem and they work!

You have to hear my DH go on about baby books he swears that the mothers and babies are drugged in the pictures cause they are all too calm.

The baby books don't really cover babies with colic and reflux or allergies. So read the books but be ready for a baby which does not respond to any of the advice.

I also have a great kids medicine book which has a decision chart and tells you when to go to the doctor.
