:Hi2:

As co-ordinator of the PASG, I am very proud to announce that our adoption support group is going from strength-to-strength, and with effect from March 2011, the two adoption support groups based in the Pretoria area, namely Opt2Adopt and the PASG will be joining/merging, to form one adoption support group, namely the PRETORIA ADOPTION SUPPORT GROUP (PASG), as to serve all adoptive families (or prospective adoptive families) living in the Pretoria area.

If you’ve been shunning participation in a adoption support group, for some odd reason or another, why not reconsider?

Come and join us on Sunday, 6 March 2011 from 12:00 to 14:00 to socialise, share experiences and to offer hope and encouragement to newcomers, as it will be an informal get-together to allow the children to play and parents to mingle.

For further information, please contact:
E-mail: pretoriaasg@yahoo.com or sign-on to Facebook and search for the PASG.

Bear love

Every parent hopes they'll get through life without ever having to administer life-saving CPR to their own child or to someone else's. Most of us will be lucky enough never to have to face this life-and-death situation. However, it is every parent's duty to be prepared and know what to do should the worst happen. Knowing what to do will help you to stay calm and give you a fighting chance of saving your child.

A trained representative from LifeMed (an advanced life support ambulance service with a 24-hour control centre situated in Pretoria) will be providing this essential life-saving training (CPR and first aid for babies and children) to all PASG families on Sunday, 3 April 2011 from 12:00 to 14:00.

Please respond (either via the PASG Facebook - Events Page, or e-mail: pretoriaasg@yahoo.com or SMS to 072 698-9991), if you plan to attend, so we can have an idea of the numbers.

Hi Lilian,

Refer to the following website - http://www.adoption.org.za - and click on 'Adoptive Parents' - 'Adoption Resources' and then scroll down to 'Adoption Support Groups' - you will find a list of adoption support groups (including contact details). There are a few based in Cape Town and surrounding areas.

All the best!

:Hi2: all adoptive families! It's spring! It's time to put on your sunscreen and join us for some fun in the park! So we're having a picnic! Bring the entire family, your picnic baskets, blankets, kites, frizz bees, soccer balls, etc., to enjoy one of the popular parks in Pretoria and be surrounded by all the beautiful willow trees! The PASG spring family picnic will be held on Sunday, 4 September 2011 from 13:00 to 15:00 at Magnolia Dell Park (Corner Queen Wilhelmina Drive, University Road and Charles Street, Bailey's Muckleneuk, Pretoria).

If you are new to the support group, don’t worry, as you will find us somewhere on the grass close to the kiddies’ play-area – just follow the laughter of the kids…!

Please RSVP (on/before Thursday, 1 September 2011) – either sign-on, search and join the Pretoria Adoption Support Group (PASG) on Facebook and confirm attendance / or not attending on the ‘events page’, or e-mail pretoriaasg@yahoo.com or SMS to 072 698-9991), so we can have an idea of the numbers.

Cool

The PASG will have a discussion for pre and post adoptive parents on Sunday, 16 October 2011 from 13:00 to 15:00 in Pretoria. We will talk about the latest updates to the law and the process. We will also discuss issues like inter-racial, same-race, single and gay adoption, as well as tracing of birthparents / adoptees etc.

It will be a great afternoon of sharing, learning and making new friends with similar questions, thoughts and experiences. It will also be an opportunity to meet the adoption social workers from Procare and the Catholic Women's League (CWL) and maybe you could be the lucky winner of our special raffle draws!

If you are interested to attend this discussion, please contact the PASG on e-mail: pretoriaasg@yahoo.com.
