Cabbage stew
Ok girls... Will try my best.. LOL. I am really not good at describing things.
1 cabbage head (Cut up, like you would cut onions)
2 onions finely chopped
salt and pepper (for taste)
fishoil for frying onions
meat (depends on the amount of food you want to make)
I usually use the lamb pieces for this. And I also usually put the cabbage in some salt water, throw off the water and rinse again in salt water. It is to wash off the winds in the cabbage (Cabbage gives you lotsa gas)
Braise onions in large pot in oil. Braise onion until golden brown. (Add bits of water every few minutes)
Once onions are brown, throw in the meat. Braise this till soft, about 30-40 minutes (depending on your meat)
Once meat is soft, Throw in your cabbage, but do it a little at a time. And stir. Throw in salt and pepper as required. And then braised this for about 30 minutes untill golden brown and soft. You will see that the cabbage after a while cooks away. You will also see when it is ready!

Re: Cabbage stew
Plain cooking oil (Sonneblom olie) to confuse you more Des.
The capies called it fish oil, because they use it to bake the fish and chips in it. Am I right Lilian
