Tomato Stew
I don't use as much meat, and once you get the hang of it you can play with the ingredients
Tomato stew
1kg mutton/beef/chicken
2 chopped onions
A snippet of garlic
500ml water
8 potatoes- peeled and cut into largish pieces
2 canstomato paste, the bigger sized one
Salt and pepper to taste
3 cloves or half a teaspoon ground cloves
20 ml sugar
Oil for frying the meat
Fry the onion and garlic in the oil until the onions are clear in colour
Add the meat and fry it until a nice golden brown (add a bit of worcestersauce)
Add salt and pepper and cook until nice and tender
Add potatoes, tomato paste, sugar and cloves amd water
Cook until everything is nice and soft and tender, stir in between
It should be nice and saucy......for a thicker sauce, mash one potato and add to the pot
Alternatively you can fry the meat and onions and add all the ingedients into a dish with a lid and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about one hour.
Rice can be served as a side dish.
