Twin Pram Question

Post by Cutie Baby on Tue 22 Jun 2010 - 11:45

Hi ladies,

I dont have twins, but have a twin pram, because K will only be 2 when her brother is born and it made sense to me to get a twin pram and got it at an absolute bargain.

Anyway, so we went to the mall with the pram for the first time this weekend, the shops that have the sensormatics, its spaced so close to each other that I could barely get the freakin pram through there...It is so unfair...also the one store, the aisles are so narrow that when I go through with my pram, everyone looks at me as if I am commiting a sin because I am blocking the place :confused

Do any of you experience this or have experience it or was it just my bad luck?

nope a twin pram is a bulky object. When I go to pick n pay I have to unpack my groceries then trot round with the pram cause it does not fit through. now that the boys are bigger I have two individual strollers for when there are two people.

Kerryw it is unfair, I am going to start writing to every store that does not consider twin prams width etc....its the same as having to consider the wheelchair bound....they must get their act together.

It was really frustrating.

Goodness Kerry - that's brave doing the groceries with both babies! I have not attempted a grocery shop by myself with the twin pram! I generally rush out at lunchtime to do it!

Ja now it is a problem, although I also have the Maclaren it it does seem to go through most spaces. Perhaps I am just too spaced out but I never even notice the evil looks, perhaps because I always try my best not to make eye contact with anyone, as that always starts the 'oh are they twins' routine! I have wondered whether a tandem rpam might be easier but they all look very bulky and heavy!

Cutie baby it does help get you out the house though! cause can you imagine chasing after a todler and push a baby?? Wendy I only shop with them for a few things then I place them on top of the pram or in the basket. I leave a big shop for the weekend with DH. I like to take them to the shops for the experience. although they often want out of the pram now!!! AHHH!!

It's not even just twin prams!

At certain shops I dread going in with my normal single pram beacuse I walys get stuck somewhere.

CNA, Clicks and Baby City are the biggest to blame!

Yes Baby City indeed! One would imagine they might be accommodating Eileen!

When I go shopping, I put the twins in the trolley and miss D pushes her own mini-Spar trolley. It works surprisingly well, although we do get a lot of attention! Imagine the twins at the very front of the trolley, waving and saying hello to everybody and Daniellie looking supercute with hers as well!

Paula - do you put them both in the main part of the trolley? ie not in that single seat area in the front? Don't think I'm quite brave enough to try that yet. I have only taken 1 at a time and put them in the seat area in the front which they love.

Yes Wendy, in front! They LOVE it. It is a bit hazardous to the actually groceries, but then I put the fragile stuff in the seat part. I was saying to my mom yesterday, it seems very daunting but once you make up your mind that it can be done, it isn't that difficult. I had a milk crises the one day, no milk, no husband, no help, so I had to take them all 3 and it turned out a lot easier just putting them in the trolley. Of course it does involve walking with both on your hips till you actually get to a trolley as well as some careful logistics when you get back to the car, but all in all, not too bad!

I also put K in the main part of the trolly, she can move around freely and also loves chatting to everyone
