You are very brave ladies!

I still have not gone shopping by myself with them.

DH does it while I'm at home with the babies, or vice versa (mainly he goes because he can stay in budget whereas I can't Smile)

But yes, the shops are useless for twin prams (and Paula, I also avoid people's stares otherwise twin questions galore)

Re: Twin Pram Question

Post by Page on Wed 23 Jun 2010 - 14:46

Hey, i haven't noticed the "looks" yet, but as Paula said, one try not to make eye contact...
I love to take mine out on a Saturday for shopping - in the first year i put them in the pram - but limited my grocery shopping to the minimum as i can only stack so much ontop of the pram and underneath... so usually went grocery shoppiing with hubby on weekends.
Now that they are 1 year old, i put the one in the front of the trolley and the other one in the big area. it works very well, and they love it. Your groceries do get trampled and the cheese gets eaten through the plastic, but its huge fun!!
I try to always stop "near" to a trolley, and usually after loading them in the car the car guards, or trolley collectors come to take the trolleys...

But the one thing that ANNOYED the hell out of me with the twin pram was the Baby Feeding/Changing room in the malls. The door to these rooms are so small , not even a single pram would fit, so i always ended up putting the pram by the door so that i can see one twin while chaning the other one... but its painfull since your pram with all your stuff are basically now open in the passage.

Most twin prams JUST JUST fit through doors and those security things, but sometimes your wheels just dont want to go straight and you do get stuck.... and then it is really frustrating.

Eve - you will get to the point where you get such cabin fever you will take your babies out in their twin pram. And you'll get TONS of "aahh sweet - twins" comments!

Paula - am inspired now - will attempt trip to Pick n Pay with both babies in the trolley and see how it goes!

Re: Twin Pram Question

Post by Petru on Fri 23 Jul 2010 - 14:12

Didi and Hannes is 1 year and 1 month apart. So When Hannes came I had to switch prams. I bought the Jeep twin travel syste pram where the babies sits behind each other. Older one in the front. Wow what a stuff up! I bought the pram at Baby city, 'small' amount for the brand to my taste, but I did not do my homework, and just went to buy a twin pram. I walked with it with both babies in the shop after buying it. Walked back, told them the problem as I got stuck everywhere, and the front seat, was half open on one side, so it was dangerous as Didi quickly realised she can spread her leg sideways. Imagine walking past a shelf and her leg gets stuck. So they told me it would be fine, I just need to get use to it. I walked to the car, and I spent 30 minutes trying to fold it so that I can put it in the boot. Both babies crying of course, imagine this crazy lady in a parking area sweating away to fold a pram. And older woman walked passed and said ag shame! :Mad Managed somehow after almost jumping on the thing, got it folded, and to my horror it did not fit in my boot!!! I phoned my hubby and he fetched the pram. The next day i took it back. They refused to take it back or give my money back, could not accomodate me with another pram as well, big fight! Jeep baby headoffice ignored me. So I sold it for almost nothing in the junkmail. And the mom that bought it from me, sms me wanting to give it back she was just as unhappy. Bought the McLaren twin pram. And I must say in most shops I can walk into. But they are now a little older. Didi is now most of the time in a trolly, Hannes in the seat and Didi in the front. And it is just easier. Basically anyone considering the twin travel system from Jeep don't!
