Please Help - desperately need gynae advice!!

Afternoon Ladies,

I am desperately trying to find a referred female gynae in the Durbanville area. I am extremely shy when it comes to those bits down there and now that something has gone wrong I also feel I have to deal with a female on this topic. I had previously put off visiting the gynae until 23 and now 2 years later it seems I dont have a choice as I have found a bump on my cervix.... Ok, I found a bump 8 months ago and it hasn't gone away, only increased in size :-( . Im very nervous & scared and that added on to my absolute horror of visiting a gynae doesnt make for a good, calm patient. I really would need a gentle, relaxed lady to help me through this ... but unfortunately none of my friends or family use female gynaes. I googled durbanville gynae and this site crept up - Im truly desperate ladies - any response or referral would mean so much to me. I have no one to ask. I just want someone to say to me " Go to Dr. x, she is my gynae and I know her to be kind and understanding." Hoping Im not asking too much - just wish I could explain how petrified I am.

Hi Kp - No, Im not TTC at present but I have heard horror stories from ladies who have suffered from cervical cancer and are now infertile. Plus I have been on the injection (contraceptive) for a few years and my previous gynae informed me my womb is very shrunken due to this and that I would not conceive easily - I would have to be on the pill for at least a year before I attempt at TTC. (The pill would bring back my period and regulate my hormones again.) Now with the bump - Im afraid. Cervical cancer runs in my family. I just hope I can find the right gynae - and thanks Ilze - I truly appreciate it. x

Thanks Adele - I called Dr White's rooms now and they could only help me the 5th October (female gynaes = white gold) - she could obviously tell I was a bit crestfallen when I heard that and she asked me is there was a problem. I explained the bump and she said she would come back to me today or tomorrow with a new, closer date. The receptionist was so kind. Thanks to you all - Will let you know how it turns out. And if it does affect my fertility at least I know of a forum now...

Just got to say ladies, been looking through the posts etc - you are all so lovely to each other. So nice to see women helping women. As the beatles say

Praying there is nothing wrong but as hard as it is, just try and keep calm until you can see the doctor!

Dr Lizette is awesome!!! I'm with dr albertyn at louis Leipoldt, he delivered my sister, and is really awesom and very sweet.
