Dylan Potgieters Unexpected appearance
Sorry for taking my time to post ladies but here goes. Had a normal Sunday on the 11th of July woke up the morning and was looking at Dylans cot saying to DH that I could not wait till our little one is sleeping in there.... Who would have guessed....Got to bed as the 8o'clock movie started but like always didn't get to see the end was tierd as I was working the Saturday and starting at a new contract on the Monday.... Or so I thought. I woke up at 10:49pm with a stomach ache from hell and a pee like it's nobodies business. Went to the loo did my thing (1 & 2) got back into bed and still had a little pain so "borrowed" DH's hand and put it on my bell and fell right back to sleep. Woke up at 11:50pm again with a stomach ache and went to the loo again thinking to myself - "this is sooooo random it's not my normal loo time but ahhh well must have been something i ate" Got back into bed again and DH asked if everything was okay and I told him that I don't know because I have this stomach pain that doesn't want to go away feels similar to BH but that my back is sore as well. He told me to stand up so he can have a look at my belly. He looked at me and said. Sweetey Dylan is sitting very low... let's call the dr. So I got our my gynea's number and DH called just to get the tone:"the subscriber you have dialed is not available at present try again later..." that got him furious. He asked if I wanted to go to the hospital just to make sure everything is okay. I agreed. He went to wake up my mother to get her opinion and she too said that little D is sitting really low. So I got dressed - didn't wanna parade into hospital with my pj's on. We got into the car with no bags of any sort because hell we were only due in another 5.5 weeks HALLoooo. So off we go. My hand on DH's leg pressing down with each wave of pain. So in other words never easing off on the pressing part. So DH drove like never before we got to the hospital in 7.5 minutes (hospital is 27 km from our house). Got to emercencies they called up to maternity for someone to come and collect me. So just why do I have to go in a wheelchair I though??? I'm good I can walk but ahhh well got into it anyway and felt silly seeing as nothing was wrong (according to me) got to the Maternity ward and told the sister I was having pain and that I was 34 weeks and 3 days preggies. They took me to delivery room number 1 and put me onto the monitor. The sister gave it a look and then looked down there and told me to get undressed. I took off my bottoms and got back onto the bed and the sister looks at me and says "no undressed and put on the gown" I'm like wondering why and asking why is everything okay??? Sisters reply shocks me " You are in labour my dear and already 3 cm dailated (sp). WHAT????? I'm not due yet. So DH runs down to move the car and let my mom know what's happening. So I'm lying there thinking to myself this can't be happening he is not supose to come now. Just goes to show our time isn't Gods time hey. So there I was at 12:45am lying in Delivery room number 1 watching Law and Order stressing my ass off. Stressing so bad that again I had the runs. DH got back from moving the car and had to run back to get my Lipice (would not have made it without it) So again having the runs with DH standing right outside the door if I needed him asking if I was okay. So next thing I know here comes the nurse saying please turn on your side we need to give you your enima. Ouch hey is all I can say. So again having to run for the loo. Came back and watched some more Law and Order and having a chat with DH regarding our little one wanting to come earlier. We were so not prepared. No bags have been packed, Little D's clothes have not been washed yet (and was just talking about it that weekend). So some time during the morning the nurse came to give me a pain injection. The pain got worse and worse but still no gynea or anisteasiologist (sp) - narkotiseer- in sight. I was holding DH's hand and squeesing down as the pain came. I didn't know what to do with myself. Then I was on the bed then off agian then lying down then sitting then bending over the bed with DH rubbing my lower back. Man o man. The sister came in while DH was rubbing my lower back saying he shouldn't do that as it would agrevate me more and I was like in f*&% off he will rub my back because it's helping. Girls the pain got worse and my sayings escelated as well. Went from "Eina Poepies (DH's nickname) to F&^ dis seer to Eina Poepies dit is f(&^%$n Seer and after each outburst I will appologise to DH for squeesing his hand so hard and for swearing. DH was just saying sorry to me for the pain that I was going through. So the sister go me ready and started puttin in my drip. O what a fiasco that was after trying for 4 times she still didn't get it in and I was screaming "I need to push" she telling me I can't the dr is not here yet. This got DH is a tizz "Where is the dr? Where is he coming from Cape Town? What is taking so long? " So again I yell "I need to push" So the sister has a looksy and says to DH look you can see the crown. So DH has a look and gets mad because where is the Dr" "is he riding a bicycle" as he said that the door opens and in comes this man introducing himself as Dr Russouw... WTF you're not my Dr but what the hec just get it over with. So that was at 4:50am. With the sister still struggling with my dripp the Dr looks at her and says "Leave it we will put it in after the birth there is no time this baby is coming now. So with DH by my side supporting me and the Dr saying push when you feel it I'm really feelit much better that at least there is a Dr and not just a sister. No offence to sisters. They didn't even put the foot rests up and that pissed me off because my feet kept slipping. After a few pushes the Dr said he is going to assist with a little sucktion because me and baby are getting tierd. So one more push and there he was born at 5:10 and I should say nothing like in the movies hey. He didn't wail out his lungs or any of those things just gave a soft cry. The dr placed him in my arms and me and DH stood in awe. He was perfect and a replica of his dad. Tanned skin and dark hair
I was so happy about that. So he got 8/10 for his first apgar and 10/10 for his second one. So the nursery sister took him to the nursery and I was seen to by the dr and sister to get me all stitched up and clean. After that DH left to go get me and little D some clothes and stuff for our stay in the hospital. I was pushed to my room where I fell asleep and only woke up again after 8 when DH arrived and we went to see little D in the nursery. He was so beautiful. It was love at first sight
and DH just thanked me for a perfect son.
Little D was taken to Neo Natal on the Tuesday morning for Jaundice and an invection caused by the suction. And man o man I must say the hardest thing ever was to leave him there when I got out of hospital the Wednesday. Don't know how some ladies do it hey. I cried every time I left to go home and I was only for 2 days. Finally the Friday morning NICU called me to say that if I'm comfortable I can come and take him home. What did they think that I was gonna leave him there one more night I don't think so. Luckly I had DH and my mom to help with Dylan so hell yeah I was comfortable.
So the moral of the story.... Be careful what you wish for.
