The power of prayer
This is going to be a loonnng read - so have a cup of tea ready!!
I met DH rather late in life - I was 30 and a bit at the time.
After a year and a half of dating we got married last year.
We decided to immediatly start trying for a baby as I was already 32 when we tied the knot because we wanted to try and have 2 children -
as he has a only daughter from a previous marriage (and no .... I met him longer after SHE divorced HIM), a saw that being an only child is not always THAT good for the child.
So......one and a half week after the wedding ceremony I was in my "fertile" time - so we made ample use of the honeymoon. I, however, had very severe pain during BDcing, but did not make much of it at the time.
Nothing happened and over the next few cycles we tried and tried again. Usually with a lot of pain and then also pain in my pelvis almost throughout my cycle.
I went to the GP who treated me for thrush, bladder infections, even STD's
and who knows what else. Nothing helped because this was not the cause of my problems.
Then during ovulation time I bled while BDcing. BIG scare
Of I went to the gynae who said I must go for a lap to see whether I have endo. (I'm histerically scared of operations
- but decided I wanted a BFP more that what I was scared of the op).
Of course I researched endo on the internet. Saw words like "infertility, struggle to get pregnant" etc :pale: .
After the lap my gynae told me that I had severe (stage 4) endo - but he managed to cut most of it out.
So back to BDcing we went.
I drank buckets full of grapefruit juice, evening primrose oil, folic acid.
Totally cut out caffeine (I was a caffeine addict) and alcohol. Luckily I don't smoke.
Went on a low GL diet (as they say you should look after your blood sugar levels while TTC).
Even started with a prenatal vitamin, additional calcium and Omega 3's.
Also exercised a bit (jogging with the doggies and swimming).
I prayed a lot - also tried to "bargain" with God, that if he gave us a
I will do this and that and more of this. As we all know - this does not work with God
- but I was desperate.....
Still nothing, nada, luthu.
While I was struggling to conceive, 7 women at work - yes 7 (I know 2 of them very well) got pregnant. Gmmph
Well - one of my friend recommended a FS as she knew I was struggling.
So......after 4 of the 7 ladies gave birth in October (all in one month!!!) I got desperate and decided to book my appointment at the FS.
I visited him on the 5th of November and he told me that if I wasn't pregnant this cycle we should do IUI next cycle. One should apparently not wait to long after the lap as severe endo like mine tends to return very quickly - and I already had some symptoms as presented the previous time.
Oh ja - this cycle I decided to use a OPK. Did that and BDced like mad on the "apparently" best days.
Well, while I tried my best, God did the miracle and I got a BFP on 14 Nov 08 (HPT), confirmed by bloods on the 15th.
So today I'm 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant!! A year of trying!! At last!!
Well, I'm not out of the woods yet as I might have been exposed to chicken pox or meningitus this weekend (DH is currently at the hospital with his daughter, they still need to do some test but docter says she'll be OK), so I'm praying to God to keep my little miracle safe.
Will keep you posted!!!
