Too much formula?

Too much formula?
For those moms giving formula. On the NAN tin it says I should give Rachel 120ml 5 times a day. But she is still feeding every 3 hours so she is getting 8 bottles a day but still drinks 120ml. Do u think this is too much? I have stopped her 10pm feed now so she is getting 7 feeds but still more than what the tin says? She is gaining weight and clinic is very happy just wondered why the tin would say that. She is too small to be only having 5 feeds surely???

Re: Too much formula?
TT the tin is only a guide you must give her as much as she wants cause there is nothing worse than a hungry baby! ALso the clinic would tell you if she was gainigng too much weight.

Re: Too much formula?
Well TT Dylan is on 100ml and has 8 feeds a day. If Clinic is happy don't worry too much it's just a guide. At least you have the formula down I am still struggling to get a formula that works

Re: Too much formula?
Not sure TT, Nicholas had six bottles a day from day one and then when he was around four weeks we dropped the 10pm one and he went down to five per day.
If she's happy and not overweight / underweight then I think it's fine - just a lot of PT for you though

The tin is always just a guide. I agree with the ladies, if she is happy and the clinic is happy then mom should ne happy too

Re: Too much formula?
Tarryn if i remember correctly they should never have more than a litre of formula a day but if you are feeding her 8 x 120ml then it should be fine.

Re: Too much formula?
I never work according to the tins... otherwise Li would be getting 200ml's already and she would be as big as a whale if I do that!!!!!! Go according to her needs... and use this as a "guide"
You take 150 x (her weight) = ??
Take that amount / the number of bottles she drinks = XX
That is the "guide" you must feed her per bottle!

Re: Too much formula?
Yip, if and when I needed to give milk in a bottle (expressed for me) I worked on the same formula as Dooi.
Tin's only a guide as the other ladies say, she is a happy baba, so I wouldn't worry about it...
