Armand Cillie - 03.0.2010

Post by Elizecillie on Mon 16 Aug 2010 - 11:56

My long awaited birth story

So Monday morning I woke up, a bit disappointed that nothing happened through the night…
Like you all know I had to check my BP every day due to high BP. So I got dressed and off to the Dr I am to check my BP. Not expecting it to be high it was 132/91. So I phoned my gynea because she said as soon as it goes over 90 I have to phone her. So she sent me to the labor ward. Got there and my BP was 146/97. She arrived and told me she is going to do an induction but I’m can go home first and come back that evening at 20:00 and they’ll put the induction in at 22:00. She also did an internal and I was 2cm dilated already.
Excited and nervous at once, I phoned DH. He was on the gholf course. So we decided to go have some lunch because it will be the last time we will be able to have lunch just the two of us… DH also said I should walk a lot because just maybe it will not be necessary for an induction. So we walked and came home to rest.

I made sure my bags and Armand’s bags are sorted. I also lost my mucus plug that afternoon and started to feel some contractions. It was still way to far apart.

So we got at hospital at 20:00 and all the observations etc started. At 21:00 they gave me a sleeping pill because they thought that I’ll only go into labor the next day at 09:00… At 22:00 they put the induction in (a pill into my …) and the contractions started. At 23:00 I called the sister and said that my contractions are very very sore. So she removed the pill. At 00:45 I went to the loo and there were a bloody discharge, so I called the sister and she said that she thinks my water is about to break. She did an internal and I was 4cm dilated and as soon as she was finish, my water broke. I immediately asked for an epidural and she did an internal again and said it was too late because I’m 7cm dilated now. So they called DH (they made him a bed in hospital) and he had to go fetch all the bags in the car. When he came back (5min later) I was 9cm dilated already and it felt like I had to push! My doc was not there yet. She arrived just in time. I was fully dilated and they told me to push. It is the most weird feeling ever. Feels like I have to push out a nr 2 but nothing wants to happen!!! DH was amazing!! He counted for me till ten while I was pushing. Don’t know how many pushes there was, but eventually Armand came out with his hand besides his head. They also had to cut me about 5 – 6 cm. It was the most amazing feeling ever when they had put him on my chest immediately!!! I felt so emotional and cried!! Through the whole story I did not scream or cry once, but I think it was the sleeping pill

Armand Cillie born 01:45, 3.8kg, 50cm and no epidural!!!! Was in labor for 3hours and 45min! Praise God! We prayed for an easy labor and a quick one

I’ll go natural any day again!! I could walk and sit that same day still. I felt normal with no pain!! Not even my cut!

Unfortunately Armand was admitted to NICU with jaundice from day 2 – 7! It broke my heart to leave him there!!! I never ever want that over!!!

He is home now, such a good boy! He is still a bit yellow, but his bili count is still ok, so no need for lights. He is our bundle of joy!!! We Praise God for our little boy!

All Glory to God!!!
xx
