Same gender twin mommies: strange question
How did you decide which twin should be named what? Did you have two names in mind and named them (Say baby on the left is Honey and baby on the right is Bunny) or did you have preselected names and waited till the babies were born before deciding? Also, how did you and dh decide who will pick the name and which baby will get that particular name?

Re: Same gender twin mommies: strange question
Well for me, I always wanted to name my boy Daniel. So, that was always going to be the case. He was confirmed a boy first at my 13 week scan, so he was Daniel. I also loved the names Joshua and Luke, so when J was confirmed a boy at my 17 week scan I then decided to go with Joshua.

Okay and the babies don't turn so much that you lose track of who was named first?
Lol, we had this discussion at work earlier...

I decided that the baby that came out first would be Jason and the second one would be Grant, reason being that G comes first in the alphabet...

Re: Same gender twin mommies: strange question
My husband liked the name Rachel and I liked Olivia so we decided to go with those, then we arbitrarily decided the first baby out would be Rachel. But i always knew who would be out first because the gynae said he would take out the baby that was head down first, and they never turned around so I knew who was who already before they were born.
Funny thing is, Rachel not only looks like her daddy but has his personality too, whilst Olivia is all me!

we sruggled with names but eventually we had it down to 6 names we liked and then once they were born and we had a little time to look at them we chose and funnily we both started to say Kian should be Kian at the same time! Connor was then a toss up between connor and cameron but Connor just seemed to fit.

Re: Same gender twin mommies: strange question
With ours it was also a struggle getting the "right"names, because hubby did not like any names on my shortlist....
There was one name which hubby considered slightly ...Damika or Danita..... so he played with the name in his mind and then said he likes Danika... (i like twists so changed the C to a K... Danica)
And then i read a Karen Kingsbury book with the character Kihanna, and it sounded so nice to me, and mentioned to hubby and he liked!
I just made the name easier... Kiana.
We always said that the first one out would be Danica... and she was always lying head down in my pelvis, so we knew from the beginning the one on the left using my bladder as a pillow will be Danica...
Kiana was on my right and she was head up, then head down, then head up again... (dont know where she got the space to turn )
But Honey.... i think in twins they dont change sides, they just change position, but one is always much further down than the other one...
So you can name them already before they come :-))

Re: Same gender twin mommies: strange question
Page, I love your girls' names
on a side note, even though i don't have same sex twins, we were going to name Connor "Luke" but to me, Luke seemed like the name of a gentle soul, and the way Connor moved ALL THE TIME (every appt the doc would say, oh, he's moved again - head first now, then bum down, etc,), he just did not seem like a "Luke". We both liked Connor and that name suited my boy much more. Today I'm very happy he's a Connor - because he is wild and boisterous

Re: Same gender twin mommies: strange question
Yes mine stayded on the same side from the beginning and they were in the same position from 30 weeks - both heads down and then a few days before birth Montine moved with her head down in the top of the birth chanel.
Hubby decide on Montine, looks more like me, have my curly hair but have her my personality - she is a little dreamer with no care in the world same as her father.
I decided on Montinique and she is the dominant one even in my womb. She has her daddies personality, loud child, very outgoing - very "analities", cleans after herself, very intellegent and a real mommy figure- just as the meaning of her name is.
But let me tell you some days I can't tell the difference between them if I cathc them from behind or if their hair is in the same style but their personalities is so different and I love it.

Melanie, so glad you posted.
Are you still blogging? How are they sleeping these days? I remember you used to always comment on my sleep posts on my blog and I treasured those comments so much - someone out there understood what we were going through!

Re: Same gender twin mommies: strange question
HI Marcia
I try to start blogging again but with no success again - I am bad at that.
The girls are sleeping better but not through yet. They go the bed on their own and fall asleep so no more rocking
can't tell you how good that feel. In the beginning when they start doing that I didn't know what to do with myself as they fall asleep between 7 and 7:30.
My problem now at night is that they drink alot. Montinique will drink tea with a bit of milk in but their must be milk even if I delute it half half. Montine throw up if I give the tea with milk in during the night - she is fine with that during the day. So I stopped the morning milk bottle and only give a bit with their tea in the car to school, reduce their afternoon milk bottle and then the night milk bottle. Some days they will each drink 1lt milk and still they eat good and lost weight past 3 months.
Looks like the parmalat is way much nicer that the stinking isomil
How are yours doing? Going any better?

We also named them whilst still being inside, baby on right Claudia and baby on left Halle - and we each had our fabvorite names so we were each lucky enough to be able to just choose a name!
