so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
What do you do when moving your two toddlers from cots to beds? Do you put them straight into beds in the same room and hope like hell they stay there? I mean - how do you stop them from getting up and playing?
Do you first put them on matresses on the floor so that they don't fall off?
What are you doing? I know Noah is ready but Finn isn't so do we wait for Finn to be 'ready'? Any help is appreciated.

Hi
Obviously I have no experience on the topic but it would be interesting to read everyone's comments.
I am sure they are going to love this new stage of being more independent

mm I hear you Zellie - I had to go out and buy them two seperate (tiny) back packs yesterday as I always only took one to school for them (to share)
They eventually started trying to steal the other kids bags - I felt so bad. All they want is their independance hey! Its too sweet to see.

Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
Well Ams I put them in toddler beds at 15 months. I got those with sides so they can't fall off and they never actually get out, unless they have some sort of problem. Generally they stay in bed till the next morning. The only problem I have is that Rachel wakes up earlier than Olivia then she gets into Olivia's bed and wakes her up, which Olivia doesn't like at all. So at some point I will have to give them separate rooms.

I moved the boys to beds just after their second birthday and they loved it so much that they never wanted to get off, lol. What I did was put the one bed next to the wall and the other one right next to it so that they kind of had a double bed and the chances of them falling were slim...

Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
just make it fun and new...
I let Damion choose new bedding, and got him choose a nice teddy and got him "big boy " pajamas and kept tell him that he was such a big boy and was going to sleep in his own bed and we had to get him big boy pajamas and also he could choose his bedding cos it was his bed and his bed is just for big boys...
And then we made a huge fuss about it

Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
I am going to wait until 2 before moving mine. That way hopefully they'll understand a bit more. They have those big sleigh cots and I might start out by just removing the sides - they can become little beds. I can't bear the thought of my tiny little Grace in a huge grown up bed!

Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
Jip also moved then straight over to beds - their beds are against the wall so I only bought 2 side to put on and they love it. They know at night they help me to put the sides up - so cute
But the problem with them being able to walk around is a problem but mine call me and then we leave the room not to wake the other one but montinique loves to sleep next to her sister so that is a bit of a problems some night.

Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
I close their door at night, and the handle is too high for them to reach, so walking about it not a problem, although in fact... Rachel has now started pushing her potty against the door so she can reach! clever but ja, perhaps not great! Other than that, they actually bang on the door when they want to get out. I must say, i had much less problems with them getting up than miss D - i only moved her at 2.5 years and I think that was too late, by then she had a mind of her own! Whilst the babies were stills mall enough perhaps not to realize right away they could get out, and now it is a habit for them to stay put!

Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
Hi ams
I moved my boys to matresses on the floor at 12 months cause they hated the camp cots wouldnt asleep.
but they are in separate rooms as they have bad nights every now and again and often on different nights. but the worst is when they wake up in the morning at very different times and wake each other - hence separate rooms.
We have no real issues with walking around only when there is a problem do they get up and connor cries for us from his bed.
recently we were in Durbs and they shared a room on proper beds Connor fell out once (we were ready and had put cushions below no damage done) but the lack of sleep was hectic both waking at 5 sometimes 4:30. But it went better than I expected.
