Kerry - we also have issues with the 1 waking up the other - hence Grace is in a campcot in the study! Like today she woke up at 5.10am and started screeching. Michael slept on until 6am.

Wendy, I know! Kendra is also tiny and could happily sleep in that cot til she's 5

Seriously though, we bought gigantic cots (large) because I want them to be in there as long as possible - no money for different beds all the time.
So when the time is right, we will take off the one side (the other side is against the wall) but I'm hoping they'll be in there until at least 3.
Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
I was thinking of doing it now over December.... but starting to doubt whether we should not postpone it for a month or 2 still.
The biggest reason for moving them to beds is my "highly adventurous" Nica who does some acrobatic move putting her leg next to her head on the frame of the camping cot and then pulling herself up and over the cot, and landing nicely on the other site like a real stunt woman on her feet... then she moves over to her sister's cot and climbs up the cot to fall "log, stock and barrel" ontop of her nonexpectant sister!
So moving them to beds might be a huge challenge in the sense of "walking around" and not sleeping ...
Especially during the day.....some days they are put down for their nap and can chat away for half an hour till they fall asleep, ...
and Nica can open doors, so no problem for her to stay inside!
A friend of mine with twin girls said she also made a HUGE fuss about it, and told them a couple of days before about this huge event and building everyday more excitement for the big day, and for her it worked very well.
BUT i must add , she only moved them when they were 2 and half....
i guess its a trial and error..... to see how it will turn out...

Re: so ..... twin moms ... a million dollar question
Good luck page! It really is much less of a big deal than one thinks, they tend to accept it easily and enjoy the space a lot. Mine tend to stay put for their naps and at bedtime, but I think it is a little to do with the fact that I moved them early at 15 months, so they stayed in their habits. I only moved D at 2.5 years and that was really too late. They do say that once they can climb out you should shift them due to the risk of injury - D actually fell onto her neck when climbing into her cot and that night she was in a bed - i got the fright of my life!

Well girls ... we moved the beds - made a HUGE fuss - they loved it - rolled around 'wrestling' and squealing, reading their books - ANYTHING but sleeping. Anyhow so it go so bad that we put the cots back into the room - next to the beds and let them sleep in the cots (just so we could get some sleep).
Had to put Finn back in his cot 25 times Monday night as he keeps jumping out. Noah is fast asleep and Finn is squealing and running and playing not knowing where to sleep? not wanting to sleep? I rolled this wheelie cupboard thing in front of the door to keep them in the room as I just CAN'T shut them in alone.
What on earth now? I thought this was the perfect opportunity to change as their new daymom is teaching them to sleep on matresses but its a nightmare. Do I banish the cots to the garage and force the issue? Do I leave Noah in his cot and let Finn toddle around? Do I say - right its 19h00 - you go in the room and you don't come out? I'm stumped (yes again)
