devestated

Post by B-Bat on Fri 10 Dec 2010 - 4:12

Hi ladies, please keep hubby and I in your prayers during the next few weeks/months.

For those who have not heard we had a terrible fire in our house on thursday afternoon.
Thankfully both hubby and I are ok physically and both our cats and dogs are safe.

I got a call from my neighbour at about half past 3 while I was out shopping asking if I was ok as there was smoke coming from my house. I rushed home in the bad storm we were having with the friend I was with at the time to find the fire brigade busy trying to get in by breaking windows etc and getting hoses in to contain the blaze. From what we can tell for now and from what numerous people have said it sounds like it may have been lightning that struck our dining room which then quickly spread to our kitchen and lounge.

We have been able to go in but due to it being quite late we couldn't really see the extent of the damage but from what we could see our kitchen and dining room are totally destroyed including some structural damage. And the rest of the house all has some fire damage but lots of smoke damage and then water damage from the guys putting out the fire.

We will see what we can see later today and will then start the insurance claims etc.

We are just so greatful for those who have been involved in all of this and how things have happend such as the fire department seeing the smoke from the station and sending someone out before our neighbours even called them, and then people from our area we have never even met before phoning us to see if we ok and making sure we are aware of the situation (we have a list of most people's details in the area)

Please also pray for our one cat who stayed in the house during this whole ordeal who is now wheezing badly. We will be taking her to the vet during the day today to get her checked as she must have bad smoke inhallation.

Not sure if my PC still works since it was in our room which was the least hit but still has water and smoke damage so I'm not sure when I'll be on again but will try keep in touch with those on FB and BB.

Hi ladies at the inlaws at the moment so I've managed to pop on quickly.

We are both ok physically just hit badly on the emotional side.

Our kitty is ok, took her to the vet and he said she is not too bad but he'll give her some meds and and then we decided to leave both of them there for the weekend while we sort things out.

We are currently staying at my BIL and will either stay there or move to friends of our who have an empty "wing" in their house that has a bed etc.

For now we have a lot of people helping out to sort out clothes, food etc but thankful for all the offers to help I will keep it in mind if we are stuck.

Even with all the fights and struggles to fall pregnant I am actually grateful right now that we don't have a little one and that I am not pregnant because it would have been so much more difficult.

Thanks again for all the prayers.
