How the hell??
So before I went on holiday, I was 70 on the dot. Came back from holiday and had gained 900g - which I thought was ok considering I'd been on holiday. This week I have been good in an effort to get back to 70kgs. Low and behold weighed myself this morning and I am 71.5kg (AGAIN - starting to wonder if my scale automatically goes to that figure when I approach it).
How the HELL can I have gained weight this week when I havent let so much as a fling pass my lips - only healthy low GI stuff
Ag this is starting to piss me off

I dont know mandri but it's starting to get me down.
BTW: I asked my doctor for duromine and he prescribed Ciplatrim instead. I think it's similar but with less subitramine. I actually gained weight while I was taking it.

It's really not nice when you work hard by eating healthy and then you pick up. Did you gym this week Gabby? Could be water retention too or maybe pms. Just keep on going and weigh again next week. Somewhere you will lose

Re: How the hell??
Me too, it was so nice getting on the scale every morning and seeing that I've lost something, even if it was 100g a day! Now I've been 400g over for 3 days?????
I'll just have to get myself motivated, at this stage I feel like what the heck, why don't I just have a pizza while I'm at it, I mean the weight is not coming off in any case!

Re: How the hell??
Gabby i've been doing a bit of reseach cos i'm also really battling to get my flippen weight down and I came across a very interesting article, from the age of 30 your metabolism slows down DRASTICALLY and the only way to get it back up and running is to basically do exercise, before 30 they say 30 minutes of exerise 3 times a week is enough after 30 you need to do 250 - 300 minutes of exercise per week to achieve weightloss, less than that will just bascially be maintining your weight...
I also though WTF 250 - 300 minutes a week means 35 minutes a day - 7 days a week or 45 minutes 5 days a week... It sounds like a lot but if you split it into 3 10 minute sessions a day it's not that bad... It seemed to work last week cos I managed to loose 2.4 kgs!
Also you need to eat every 3 hours, and limit fruit to 2 a day, I haven't managed that part just yet.
Another thing I also came across is that many woman get metabolic syndrom or insulin resistance, after pregnancy, if your waist mesurment is more than 88 cm's and you carry the majority of your weight around your tummy and upper arms and feel tired, moody and depressed and crave carbs and have irregular AF, it could be that. There is a product, which you can buy from dischem called Antagolin, which helps with it, I took it in October and managed to get down to 64 kg's.
So i'm going to go and get myself some today and see if it will help.

Re: How the hell??
That's how I feel Mandri - like I should just eat whatever cos I am gaining anyway. I may as well make it worth my while.
@Adele, well I only went back to curves yesterday after a ten day break while I was away. I have the mirena (so no AF usually) so I dont know where I am in my cycle. maybe it is pms / ovulation time I dont know. Thanks for the motivation Adele.

Re: How the hell??
Gabby, also your BMI is not that bad, it's harder to loose weight the closer to your BMI you are!
Just keep going, we're all going to loose this weight

Re: How the hell??
Des, I went off the Ciplatrim because it was expensive and wasnt working. After three days of going off it, I lost the weight I had gained in the two or three weeks of taking it. Oh, I thought it was the same as duro. It also kept me awake and made me a bit aggressive so it's better for everyone that i am off it.
Thanks for the advice Haze. I think I will go get some of that Antagolin and see if that helps. I dont carry a lot of weight on my stomach but I do carry weight above my knees and my upper arms.
In terms of the exercise, so based on the advice you read, going to Curves four to five times a week would be enough hey? It's about 40 minutes a session (including the stretching)?
I must admit though that I havent been very good with the Curves thing since Nicholas got sick and was in hospital. It threw me out then it was holidays and I had the kids so couldnt get to Curves. I went back the week before we went on holiday (after a six week break ha ha) and then I went away. So went again for the first time yesterday. Hopefully if I am consistent with it, it will start to help

Re: How the hell??
well they suggest that you do 250 - 300 a week but no session should last for more than 90 minutes because after that amount of time your body goes into "save me"mode and basically stops buring fat, but starts burning muscle.
The good thing is that if you have been going to gym, your body has muscle memory so even if you skipped years, you're body after about 2 weeks will go - hold on, I remember this stuff, and then kick into action and speed up your metabolism and make you loose weight.

Re: How the hell??
Des, I have often thought that perhaps the Mirena is preventing the weight loss but the thing is that I had it for five years before i got pregnant with cameron and I didnt gain any weight cos of it. Plus a number of my friends have it and they arent struggling with weight issues.
I think haze might be onto something with the metabolic syndrome / insulin thing from pregnancy. I am going to try the Antagolin. Hoepfully exercising will also help.
If neither of those help, I will feel nothing to whipe this Mirena out I promise you. Although the fear of gaining 25kgs from an "unplanned" pregnancy at this stage is far greater than the frustration of not losing weight ha ha. I wont take BCP so it would be up to condoms to do the protecting. Not sure how reliable that would be ha ha

Re: How the hell??
Flip Haze, so I would need to do an hour of exercise 5 times a week then. Curves aint gonna cut it then. Damn these criminals who make it unsafe for us to walk and run in the streets without bodyguards!
