Special Memories

Post by Sheena on Tue 12 Apr 2011 - 12:38

Today marks the 13th anniversary of the tragic loss of one of my most special and best friends in this world.

It was an honour and blessing to have her in my life for a very large part of the short 19 years that she lived.

I have never got over her death and I don't think I ever will. Do this day I think of her so often and often some crazy, stupid thing that she did will pop into my head at the the most arb times and I find myself having a little giggle.

No day is different but with today being her anniversary I suppose we think of her a little more.

This was the poem that was on her funeral card thing.

Really so true.

Miss you my special Blompotte. Love you dearly and always will.

"I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine," He said.
For you to love - while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.

It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care or him for Me?

He'll bring his smiles to gladden you,
And should this stay be brief
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

I've looked this world over
In search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd
Life's lanes, I have selected you.

Now will you give him all your love,
Nor count the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call to
Take him back again?"

I fancied that I heard then say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,

The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that come
And try to understand."

Car accident! On the way to watch an Easter play.

She was in the car with her boyfriend and her parents and rest of the family were in the car behind them.

To this day no one can explain what happened.

The car rolled on the highway, she was wearing a seatbelt but got flung out and the car rolled on top of her. It was instant.

I will never ever forget that day as long as I live.

My family was overseas in Dubai and I was here on my own with DH.

I got the call from her mum who was totally out of it.

I phoned my folks in Dubai and they pretty much came back as soon as they could.

It was horrific. We are still exceptionally close with the rest of the family. Her mum and my mum remain close friends and I am friends with her two youngest sisters.

Not the same without her though.

She was a nutcase and I adored her!

No worries.

Could not talk about it or face it for a long time but I am okay with it now.

Shame that's terrible Sheena.

One of my friends was in an accident three weeks ago. She and her hubby were on their way back from a funeral when a truck over taking another truck hit them head on. Luckily their little girl wasnt with them because she would have been killed.

My friend and her hubby are lucky to be alive. He is out of hospital this week but she is still in high care. They have removed her gall bladder, part of her liver and part of her intestines. Most of her injuries were internal (organs). Her body is so swollen she looks seven months pregnant (she is about a size32 normally). They operated on her again last friday to drain fluid from her body. Apparently is was green... Until Sunday she has largely been out of it.

She has a cut from her breast plate to her pubic bone and her face is lacerated. She is so beautiful - even my hubby says she is the closest thing to Angelina Jolie in SA. Seriously - long brown hair, plump lips - the works.

It is her little girl's third birthday this week. She cant even be home with her. Worst of all is that her little girl isnt even allowed into high care to see her mommy.

Car accidents are so scary....

I feel for you and so appreciative that our friends got a second chance.

I said to DH the other day and I have said it so often before that if I did not have to drive I would not.

I loved living in London. I could hop on the underground and not have to worry about taxis, drunk drivers, speed freaks etc. I can cope with the sweaty stinky people on tubes rather than being on the death traps that we call roads.

Tamsyn and Geoff were both killed in unnecessary road accidents. Both will haunt me to the day I die.

About a week after Tam died DH's very close friend was killed in a motor cycle accident as well. He was also as young as her. Broke his heart too.

We are not the only people touched by it. So many people lose their lives due to car accidents. It sucks.

I am so glad that your friend is going to be okay. Just sorry she had to suffer so damn much.

xxxx
