Prayer for a special friend of mine & her family

It is terrible and I know it is a hard decision but when it happened to Eileen I read up a lot and I watched loads of personal videos etc and after watching those the decision for me was very easy. In most cases the poor baby suffers tremendously and chances are he/she won't even make it to 6 months. That would be pushing it.

I know in my heart I would not want my child to suffer & that is pretty much the bottome line. It is not like Downs where you have 30 odd years where your child can live a happy life. Trisomy is evil, painful and just downright awful and in most cases you only have a few moments or a couple of days but those days are filled with pain and suffering.

So terribly sad. This is making me very teary!

I know this hits very close to home, after Eileen lost her boy. I just cant understand why life must be so cruel, women drinking and doing drugs fall pregnant all the time and end up having healthy babies they cant support, while there are people out there, like this couple, who has everything to give, enough love and enough money to give a child everything and more and yet they are being punished!

I know exactly what you are saying. Also why such a traumatic way of going about it. If for any reason it was not the right time let the body do it naturally. Why have to make a person make this decision.

Really does break my heart.

A friend of DH's says this every single time we see him: "People should be forced to get a licence before being allowed to have children".

It is so true. Some people just should not have kids, ie the druggies, prostitutes etc etc. Okay in some cases they turn their lives around but you know which types I am talking about. It does make me rather MAD!

They have opted for termination & they will do an induction tonight!

Aw that's so sad. Shame but I am sure that they have thought well and hard to come to this decision. It has to be the right one.

Why these things happen to people I will never ever understand

I know Gabby, its mind baffling and so unfair! I believe they have given it much thought & that it wasnt an easy decision, they went for 2nd and 3rd opinions and the prognosis stays the same, their lg's brain stopped growing, and the Dr said even if they decided to carry on, there is huge possibility of premature birth before 28weeks and even if she was lucky enough to make it 40w, chances that the baby would be born sleeping is also very high. App its a genetic thing, so all sibs on both sides need to be tested

Ai shame, I feel so sorry for them!

Lilly, I know this sounds calous but I know they have made the right decision.

I pray for strength for them as it is a very DIFFICULT, guilt filled and traumatic decision and will probably take a VERY long time to deal with.

If she battles maybe you should let her get in touch with Eileen as there is no one better than her to understand your friend's feelings.

She needs to take comfort knowing that she has done her duty as a mother to protect her child from suffering and pain. Her LO will be able to rest in peace in a place for beautiful and peaceful than she can ever imagine.
