Advice on adoption agencies
Hi there! I wonder if anyone has any advice on adoption agencies? We are looking to adopt interracially and have now been to an orientation meeting at Child Welfare and ABBA adoptions and do not know how to pick! We did not get a "gut" feel at either of them - perhaps someone has some good / bad experiences to share that will help me make up my mind!

Re: Advice on adoption agencies
Hi there,
We are currently on the waiting list with Child Welfare.
I personally believe the service any Welfare Organisation offers can not come close to the service you will receive privately.
We have adopted our daughter privately but unfortunately this time around have to go through Welfare.
I'm afraid that with the list being so long we might never be considered.
But we have to have hope,...
Good luck!

Re: Advice on adoption agencies
The 1st time around we did an inter-country adoption, so cannot eleborate on the difference between a private/welfare agency, however, the 2nd time around we adopted here in SA and worked through a welfare/church agency, and the service was great and the process went smoothly. I have absolutely no complaints! I've however spoken to many other families and seems that the only difference between what we experienced and what they experienced by utilising a private agency/social worker, was the difference in costs.
Wish you all the best!
