Questions!!
Ok,so i have done all the research on being preggies and knew all the ups and downs. But i never thought of getting informed about the actual baby being here. Stupid me! So now i have a few questions. When do lo start teething? When do lo start to sit? And how many hours a day is lo suppose to be awake and asleep? Tristan is 6weeks today,5kg,54cm long strong and healthy doc is happy! He had his injections, its terrible,i had a few tears myself.

Re: Questions!!
I know the same as that What to expect when expecting book, you get one in the series called What to expect: The first year. That might help, I have no experience, but hearing it from mommies that knows will be great
But yes please, I would also note all answers to this question for future use...

they start sitting at 5 months ... other babies are lazy though and tend to take longer ...

Re: Questions!!
Hi Erdna
There is no rule in the book that say's that your baby will start teething at 4months, sit up straight at 6months est. *As for sleeping your baby might not sleep according to the chart’s but can be due to incorrect routine or baby having some problems...*
Each child is to his individual own... Each child progresses on his/her own...
*Teething*
The Majority of babies get their little cap round about 4-7 months, in some cases some might even get there little cap as early as 3months.... And some babies only get their first cap at a year... So it really depends on your own child...
*Sitting up*
Most babies start to sit up from about 6-8months, if their little upper body is strong enough and if baby has got good coordination sometime it can start as early as 3months... From about 3-4months start assisting him in sitting up and gradually he’ll do it on his own...
*Sleeping*
- birth to 6 or 7 weeks. Newborns sleep between 16 and 20 hours a day.
- 1 month to 3 months. Babies at this stage will need to sleep around 8 hours at night, and another 8 hours during the
day, for a total of around 16 hours.
- 3 months to 6 months. During this stage, nighttime sleep increases and daytime sleep decreases. Your baby will
probably sleep for about 10 hours at night, and need between 3 and 5 hours during the day.
- 6 months to 9 months. Babies at this age will sleep even more at night. Nighttime sleep will be around 11 hours. Daytime
sleep will drop down to between 2 and 3 1/2 hours.
- 9 months to 1 year. Nighttime sleep stays steady at 11 hours. Daytime sleep may drop off slightly, from 2 to 3 hours.
- 1 year to 18 months. Here, they may add a little time sleeping at night, around 11 1/2 hours total. Daytime sleep drops
to between 1 and 2 hours, where it will stay until after they are around 4 years old (or whenever they stop taking
naps).
- 18 months to 3 years. Nighttime sleep will drop around half an hour every six months, so that at 3 years your baby will
be sleeping around 10 1/2 hours a night. Daytime sleep will stay around the same.
What I would suggest is to have a little diary and write everything down, "Progress, What he eaths, when he goes to bed, when he wakes up, how many ml of milk he has during the day est...."

Re: Questions!!
Thanx ladies. To be honest,Tristan is defnitely doing things different,he held up his head by himself at 2weeks,and by now he lift his head and looks at me for a very long time when i held him,i still do assist his neck. Oh and its a struggle to change nappies as he just dont lay still. His really a very strong boy. As for the sleep...haha if i dont 'force' him to sleep he will be awake all the time!

Re: Questions!!
Every baby is different, William cut his first tooth at 3 1/2 months, Kaylie hasent cut any yet. William could only sit by himself at 9 months I think Kaylie might be sitting at six months don't know we'll have to see. I would say buy a baby book and follow the guid lines but don't be in a panic if your child doesn't follow the book because every baby is different.

Re: Questions!!
Hmmm well Kaylie is very good she sleeps right through the night from 8:30 - 6am, has a bottle and goes strait back to sleep til 8:30. Then she has a cat nap at 11am and then sleeps from 2pm till 4:30pm. She's been very alert since day one looking at everything with interest, and she's also got a very strong neck. She lifts her head from 2 weeks old and when I put her on her tummy from 1 month old she lifts herself up completely like she wants to crawl oh and at three months she started rolling from her back to her tummy!!!!

Re: Questions!!
I agree with Funky and Roxy ... D was 3 months when he cut his first tooth, sat by 6 months, started crawling at 7 months and walking at 11 months ...
he slept bad cause he had colic ... Lallie I dont know if that will help your baby, but it never helped D ... I found buscopan very helpful as well as boiled cooled water with behoedmiddel and soet olie in it ...
