Adoption news..

Well, I've phoned the lady like every second day... she is soooo busy! Still waiting for the papers that me and DH must fill in.

... can't wait any longer... think ones the papers is filled in, then the process can start. But at this stage, things are looking :pale:

Me and dh are still very positive, and can't wait for things to get started!

ah man ... how long do they normally take with an adoption?

Well Kim we start the process 2 years back before they even begin with the house visits and all the medical forms, unless your'e willing to pay a full of money to a private sw, then everything is much diffrent then you can have a baby in a few months time, and then they say your not paying for the child you pay for administrations.....

Yes, if your willing to take a black baby which is HIV positive it also go very quikly.

not to sound harsh or anything but I wont ... then u get so attached to that baby and then the baby passes on ... no thank you ...

and coloured babies?

They told us colored babies is more available but it will also take some time but Kuruman is a very rasist town so the poor child would not have a fair change at all and then I will not commend about my own family. I just can't do that to a child.

One sw told me that the goverment is pressing them to place hiv babies because there is so much available and the goverment can't take care of them all, so they try everything so the HIV babies would get first a home.

ilze i also want and wanted a black baby!!!! we also was down that road but it never got so far for some reason i can't remember but yes 2 years later... rm was conceived!

i know if u long to be a mother things like that dont matter but then u have to think of the childs well-being ...

its sad, because so many woman I know battle with infertility and yet there are so many unwanted(by their birth mothers)babies and abortions.

We were very fortunate in that our process didn't take long at all!

We filled out the forms in November 2007
Home visit in January 2008
Officially on waiting list in January 2008
Got phone call in May 2008
Fetched Hannah in June 2008

We didn't specifiy gender and said that we would either like a white / coloured child. We said that we would adopt a baby 1 year and younger...Hannah was 9 months old when we got her...

It's 10 months down the road and I wouldn't change anything.

I phoned the SW every week...I made a nuisance of myself because I wanted her to always have us in mind...esp when that perfect baby came along...and it worked!

I think a lot relies on the agency / sw you are with!

Jip, they said we must be married 5 years to get on the list for white babies. For black or coloured babies, married for 4 years. :scratch:

I am currently also "irritating" them, phoning every day!
