New pram (again...)

Post by Guest on Fri 29 May 2009 - 18:30

The first pram we bought was the Graco Duorider. It is great for small babies as both sides goes flat, but it is large and heavy and it doesn't take the car seats.
So we got the Maclaren Twin Triumph. It is light and small and goes through doors easily. Will be great for when the twins are older.
But we really wanted something that would take the car seats - we have the Maxi Cosi ones. So although there are twin prams available overseas that can take them - the iCandy Pear and the Zoom, they are not available here. The only ones here that takes them are the Quinnies. So we took the plunge and bought 2 today - we took the floor models (20% discount) and proudly walzed through the shops with both babies in their car seats - they also loved it as now they can look at us! Obviously we can only use them when we both go out, but it very rarely happens that I go out alone with them, and then the Maclaren will have to do. Plus the Quinnies goes so very flat, they both fit into my car's (Honda FRV, such a mommy van!) boot!

It seems that there is still very little available for twins here!

That is so true! I bought a Brenine pram thats imported from Spain, and damn that was expensive!

Maybe we should start a twin line in SA, there are so many twins and so little for them!

HI

I am very happy with my pram a City Mini Jogger. It fits through doors but lies flat. Also the wheels are nice and big so they are easy over any terrain. I must admit I have not used it much yet we seem to just eat, rock babies and sleep at the moment. But we did take them for a walk the other day and it was a pleasure. It is time consuming getting two babies in to a pram, I have had to factor that in when we need to go some where. This is a huge learn curve.

I am also looking for a pram and being in a small town (East London) there isn't much choice. I am thinking of buying the Maclaren because of its light weight and its not very expensive, R 2000.00. How much are you ladies prepared to pay for a pram?

The Maclaren is very nice, very light and quite narrow so it fits well through doors. The only problem is that the seats don't go down flat. We paid quite a bit now for the Quinnies but they are worth it The Jane is much to expensive (they quoted us R15000 when we went to look at it), for the strollers R2000 is resonable, and for the Quinnies, we took the floor models and that cab save you up to 20%

I agree , not much out there for twins. I also got the Maclaen and must say that i am comfortable with it. They boys just love looking around and they go in it everyday. It is small and light and not a hassle to open and close.

I just saw a peg perego stroller on the baby and company website on sale for R 3000.00. Does anyone have info on this product in terms of its functionality?

The prams are so expensive for twins. Have not got one yet - hoping to get one second hand. At this stage I dont even know if it will fit in my little car.

I agree with the twin line.

Twins are a blessing but when it comes to expensive its almost as if retailers make it out to be something awful as we must be ripped off so much.
