Caitlyn True - Birthstory

I thought it was about time to post Caitlyn's birthstory here... I wasn't ready for it earlier as I was quite dissapointed in how it went and needed some time to take it all in... Sorry for the wait girls

I went in at 05:00 am, very excited and a bit nervous but soooo happy that finally it was the big day !
I have waited for that day for sooo many years and finally it was my turn, it seemed so surreal.
Dh all smiles from ear to ear

As we went to the ward, we were told that it was very busy at the moment, they had 12 babies born the day our little Caitlyn was born
As they put me in bed, I was told that I would be first on the list for theatre at 08:45 so I thought since dh was sitting there half asleep already, I d send him home so he could sleep a bit more... He didnt want to at first but I told him I need him awake when it was time so he went

Not long after that the nurse came with the catheter and all I can say is OUCH ! Really...
I had asked them if they could do it after the spinal but they said they always do it before
2 Minutes after catheter was put in place the anaesthetist came in to put my IV and i said : One butcher after another
Thank God they had a sense of humor...
They told me I would go to theatre any minute and asked me "where is your husband" ? I was like Already ???
So I phoned him and he was back within minutes, a bit pale but he was there

In the theatre they told me the spinal would be just spinal, no local
I wasnt too happy with that So they started and terribly sorry if I scare anyone but they took 8 tries for the spinal (dh counted) By the last few tries I was crying my eyes out and I usually can take quite a bit of pain but this was over the edge for me ...
After a few minutes and many requests to move my toes, I could still move them en lift my legs seperately... the only thing that was numb instantly was my bum...
They pinched my belly button and I could still feel it
After some minutes they said "dont worry, we ll get there" and without telling me a thing they started cutting...
I didnt feel the start but all of a sudden I felt EVERYTHING and told them STOP ! I can feel it...
Doc must have thought I was just panicking cause he kept going and said : "We re almost there"
I kept crying and had problems breathing, (dh was holding oxygen above me, poor dh was almost gonna beat that doc to death)
Dh told doc :"listen, do something cause I can see she still feels everything !!!" Anaesthetist had them test if it was true and yes sir ! He was like : OK ! NOW we put her to sleep, she feels everything still !
So they held that gas thing pressed over my mouth and nose ( I thought I was gonna sufficate ) and I was gone

I woke up in recovery seeing dh at the entrance of the door, worried as hell trying to see me and the nurses wouldnt let him in
He looked so worried, poor dh
I remember my throat was very sore when I woke up...
They wheeled me to my room where dh and Mil were sitting waiting for me, and the first thing I saw was their sad faces and worried looks.
Mil had tears in her eyes and I thought : SOMETHING IS WRONG
So I asked her :"Is something wrong" Is the baby ok ?
And they said : Sweety, the baby is fine, perfect and sooo beautiful, again dh smiles from ear to ear

Mil said I was just so sad to see you suffer like that I was worried about you
My dh had taken her first pictures in theatre when I was under and when they showed them to me I thought : I would have gone through more pain for her, cant believe she is here and doing alright

I went in out of sleep for a while and they went to give me some more rest... just when I almost got to sleep the nurse rolled in my baby girl and OMG I was awake VERY FAST
They put her under my gown on my chest to get warmed up a bit as she was a bit chilly and a bit blue-ish...
I was in love from the first look ! I told them to leave her with me to sleep and get warm and they did.

Thats how I changed my plans of bottlefeeding to breastfeeding, it was her choice and she has decided for me
Mil came back in and looked so very proud. Breastfeeding went like a charm and the love I felt right from the very start was so intense
Dh came back and was quite surprised but happy about my change of plans to breastfeed

I spoke to my parents in Belgium on the phone, they were so very emotional I still couldnt believe it was all really happening
Since then they only took Caitlyn to the nursery one evening, and there were babies crying all the time and every cry I thought : "Thats MY baby" I have harassed those nurses badly Till I couldnt take it anymore and asked to bring her back and let her stay with me during the nights too, and they did.
I obviously barely slept but I couldnt have cared less about sleep !

We are so very proud and happy and are both so much in love with her
It was worth every bit of pain and suffering !
We love her SO much !

How beautiful! Im in tears over all the crap u went through, but happy mo and babes is fine! Oh and what a stunner!

So sorry you had to go through that, but Caitlyn is really drop dead gorgeous!

Wow, I always thought that happen only in movies, Hubby must have punch that dr on his nose.

But your LG is very beautiful.

How dissapointed you must have felt Tammi, but at least you have the perfect ending!!!

Oh no what a stupid dr - i'd have kicked him in his you know where! and not stopped and said don't worry it's nearly over!

But you have a gorgeous little baby girl!
