Comments on twins
Do you also get so much attention and comments when you take the twins out?? We get stared at so much I feel like a circus animal some times. I don't know if it makes it worse that we also have miss D! And the comments!
Are they twins?? Uhmmm
Are they boys or girls? (With them head to to in pink!)
Are they identical? I think they look quite different apparently not so much!
ect ect...

I'm laughing my head off, we get exactly those kind of comments and stares and my Hubby hates it. We cannot go anywhere without the attention. Now my poor Hubby doesn't want to eat out with the twins.

Re: Comments on twins
Sorry to chip in
but I get that alot (with my boy). I almost always dress him in blue or in boy clothes ( you can clearly see it's boys clothes with cars and tools and things on) and then people ask: Is your baby a girl or boy? I get SO frustrated!!! Next time I'm going to tell them: "No, I just dress my boy in BLUE to confuse you!!"

Re: Comments on twins
I hear you completely! I was just saying to my husband how annoyed I am getting with all the comments. I can't even go to a shopping centre and sit and have a cup of tea in peace without some old biddie coming up to gape or getting indulgent smiles followed by "Aaah sweet.....twins...... Double Trouble!" We are also often asked "Are they identical?" How can they be identical if one is a boy and the other a girl?????? I know people mean well but it is downright annoying!
My other favourite is...
Stranger: "Are there twins in your family?"
Me: "No"
stranger: "What about your husbands family?"
Me: "No"
Stranger: "Were you surprised when you found out you were having twins?"
Me: No - not really
It is really no-one elses business how we came to have twins!

Re: Comments on twins
lol Wendy!
I particularly dislike the "double trouble" comment, I just say "double or nothing" and then they really don't know what to answer. I mean how in heck would someone without twins know how much trouble they are??
We also encounter the other species of onlookers from time to time, the ones who stare and make comments to each other but ignore us - the parents - completely! urghh
I pity the twins in a way because they will have to deal with all these comments for the rest of their lives, but worse, i imagine!

I know exactly what you guys mean. Ah, twins, how sweet, etc. I also don't like going out , cause by the end of the day, my face is so sore from smiling at everyone. but then i feel bad as some people are so nice.

Re: Comments on twins
Hi Paula
We get the exact same questions so much so that I have started going "yes twin boys" when people even just smile in my direction which does get me some strange looks also it leaves them lost for what to say next.
Wendy I am also so tired of discussing twins in my family, luckily my husbands family has twins not that that really makes a difference. A few people have come out and said "IVF?" but really I want to move past how we got them and just enjoy them.

Re: Comments on twins
I also have gotten all the comments in the past and I still do... I also have gotten, "Are the triplets" I mean Dylan is a whole head taller, but yes they are, haha.
When people ask me, "Are there twins in your family?" I smile and say, "There are now"
The only people that I have time for is those with twins, or expecting twins... after two and a half years of being a twin mother, I have become a little hard. It also really bugs me (perhaps I am abnormal) when people ask me who is older... what does it matter, I am going to teach the boys that when people ask that they must answer with "Dylan"
Also when they were babies they were dressed the same (all in blue) and people would be like, "Ah cute, a boy and a girl" I got to the point where I just smiled and agreed.
And then the famous one's that try to argue with you abotu your kids... are you sure that they are all boys? My responce, "well I have birth to them and bath and dress them everyday but hey if you want to argue with me about my own kids... dorks"

Re: Comments on twins
Sorry Kerry, I distinctly remember asking you the identical thing at the Breakfast. MY bad.
People are weird - a while ago Cath, DH and I went out for dinner. Cath and DH were chatting and I was trying to put Keagan to sleep so took him for a little walk in my arms on the patio of the restaurant. A nice looking, youngish guy and his girlfriend were having dinner and he said to me, you are more than welcome to leave him with me and go finish your dinner. I will look after him.
Yeah RIGHT. I am going to leave my most cherished little boy with a complete STRANGER. He was not even kidding. Bloody nuts I tell you.

Oh sheena no problem people that I know asking are a different thing just strangers are too much.
But I cant tell you how many shop assistants and waitresses have just walked off with one of the boys and I would stress if I did not really need the help at the time.

Re: Comments on twins
Well I hate the attention so much that I sold the twin pram and bought two strollers - bit dumb I know since one person can't push two strollers but anyhow - least I don't get bombarded everytime I go out - do we sound like sour old ladies? Anyhow DJG - I HATE it when they ask who is older?! WTF does it matter? Amazing how people feel they have the liberty to compare when we as mothers make every effort not to. eish people are sometimes so insensitive!
