Twin pregnancy weight gain?

Post by Zellie on Thu 2 Jul 2009 - 13:30

Hello ladies

I am 21 weeks tomorrow and have gained 6 kg already. :Shocked Is that to much at this stage for a twin pregnancy?

How much did you pick up at the end of your pregnancy and can you remember how much you weighed at around 20/21 weeks?

Thank you

I picked up 17kg's at 34 weeks, apparently you have to pick up in the region of 20kg's for a healthy term twin pregnancy.

I also picked up 17 kg by 34 weeks (when they were delivered). By 20 weeks I had picked up just over 6kg. I certainly don't think you need to worry about gaining too much. My Dr always looked delighted every time he weighed me and I had gained weight!

Hi

Thank you mommies. Smile

I try try to eat healthy but of course it's not always the case. I just wish I wasn't hungry all the time. I feel like grazing all day long. :heehee2:

Have a lovely day.

Hi

With a twin pregnancy they recomend putting on weight as this can help you carry longer. I know someone who had to take supplement shakes with meals to put on enough weight. I also came accross a website that said 20kg was healthy in twins and 10 of those kgs should be put on in the first 20 weeks. Also eat now while you can I found in my third trimester my stomach was so squashed that I could only manage small meals. towards the end i think i lived off chocolate milk - not so healthy i know.

But don't worry about the weight it seems easier to loose with twins (possibly extreem exhaustion has something to do with it?)

Hi,
I am now 32w and picked up 13kg. I was also a bit worried, but at the moment it doesn't bother me anymore, I now eat when I am hungry. Can't remember what I weighed at 21w sorry, but think it was also around 6-7kg. It slowed down now for two weeks now I havn't picked up anything, but I have been eating alot (especially chocolates).

Hi I carried till 37 weeks and put on a total of 13. I tried to eat healthily but did eat cake and chocolates along the way.

I wished that I had put on more weight as perhaps my twins would have been bigger.

Wade born at 2.5kg
Erin born weighing 1.880kg

Dont stress about the weight gain
