SLEEPING THROUGH
Hi All
At what age did your twins start sleeping through? I know that it is still early days (twins 5 weeks tomorrow) but was wondering.
If not sleeping through, at least sleep for longer stretches. Mine still feed every four hours. Until when does this last and at what stage can you start changing this and how?

Oh Joleen,
I can imagine it must be difficult and that the one wakes up the other or not?
I dnt have twins but Jayden is 13 weeks and still not sleeping through! He dropped the 10 o'clock feed and is still feeding at 2am and 6am.
Hope your winnies are gonna be well behaved and sleep through soon! xxx

Re: SLEEPING THROUGH
Hi
I initially woke the twins at 10pm for feeds, then stopped doing that when they were about 6 weeks old. They then started to wake only around 12 for a feed, then stretched it till 1am (Maybe around 3 months). Then when they were on 3 meals a day (at just over 5.5 months I took away their night bottle which meant trouble for about a week or so, then they started taking turns to sleep through, now for the last two weeks (since 6 months old, corr age of 4.5 months) they are both sleeping through consistently. The best advice I have (which is tough to do) is NOT to wake twin 2 when twin 1 wakes up for a feed, but to leave #2 to wake up by her/himself. I KNOW it is twice the work (believe me) but once you teach them to wake up you will have a harder time eventually getting them both to sleep through. Good luck!

Re: SLEEPING THROUGH
Hi Joleen,
I believe that once they reach 5kg or so they are physically capable of sleeping through, whether they do or not is another story. My little boy is now sleeping from 10pm till about 6.30am. He weighs 6.4kg and is 17 weeks (adjusted age 11 weeks). They are put down at about 6.30pm after bath and feed and then woken again at 10pm. I hope to drop the 10pm bottle one of these days but keeping it for now as he doesn't take big feeds (usually not more than 140ml at a time) so would miss out on his nutrition. If he does wake during the night I just give him his dummy and he goes back to sleep.
My daughter is much smaller (only 4.1kg) so needs a night feed - she usually wakes at around 3.30am. Although having said that she slept through last night which I don't know whether is a good thing or not as she has now missed out on a feed and I am desperately trying to get her to gain weight!
There was a time when I just thought the end was not in sight and then suddenly things got easier! They will for you too. I did not realise you were a single mom - it must be very difficult for you. Hang in there.

Hi Joleen
Up until 12 weeks the twins were feeding every 3 hours and then they start streching it abit. They are 19 weeks and still wake up once a night for a feeding, around 2.
